It can be hard for students not to feel isolated without the regular routine of coming to school and spending the day with teachers and classmates 5 days a week. At KIST, Secondary teachers have been working to help combat the sense of loneliness that comes along with Distance Learning by holding a 10-minute video/audio check-in session each day. These sessions focus not on academic topics, but rather on giving students a space to express themselves and relate to one another in a small group setting. While Distance Learning will continue for at least another month at KIST, we look forward to working together as a community to support not only the academic but also the social and emotional needs of our students.
