KIST libraries

“Developing critical thinkers, independent and lifelong learners for the 21st century”

KIST has two library facilities catering to each area of the school: Elementary and Secondary. As an IB World School, the libraries are viewed as focal points within the school. As centers for student inquiry and research, we aim to enhance student learning by providing a welcoming and supportive environment in the libraries that encourages students to engage with the wider world and develop skills that will equip them for life. The collections in both libraries are continually being developed to support the curricular and recreational needs of students and staff.

The libraries currently hold approximately 25,000 items, catalogued and accessible online using the Destiny library software system. The majority of titles are in English; however, the libraries also support a commitment to native language maintenance with the provision of many Japanese titles and a growing collection in other languages spoken by our students and staff.
